The community

An open table for everyone

We're families, students, veterans and people playing for the first time. Pull up a chair at any table and someone will teach you. Everyone belongs here, from your first night to your hundredth.

Our story

From two friends to an association

  1. 2024

    It started with two friends

The Boardgame Club began in 2024 with two friends and one idea: run conventions as an excuse to bring less-played games to the table, with a reason to gather around a genre and actually play it. That spirit gave rise to TrainlotterCon and Space Oddity Con, and later Tricky Day Con.

  2. Early 2026

    Regular meetups in Valongo

In early 2026 we started fortnightly meetups in Valongo, with the help of Teatro Amador Susanense. More people joined each time, and what began as two friends grew into a non-profit association built to organise meetups around board games, RPG and TCG, based in Valongo.

  3. Mid 2026

A partnership with the Junta de Freguesia

In mid-2026 we partnered with the Junta de Freguesia de Valongo. Their support keeps the regular meetups running and lets us hold our conventions more often than before.

What we play

Three ways to play

Three tabletop worlds, one community. Whichever pulls you in, there's a table for it.

  • Board games

From quick fillers for the whole table to deep strategy that runs all night. Hundreds of titles to discover, and someone ready to teach you the rules.

  • Tabletop RPG

Gather a party and build a story together around the table. One-shots for first-timers, longer campaigns for the regulars.

  • Trading cards

From casual decks to competitive play. Bring your collection or pick up a new game at the table.

Tabletop games, not gambling

Everything we do happens face to face, around a table: board games, RPG and trading card games. We have no connection to betting or games of chance. It's about people, rules and a good evening together.

We're a non-profit association. Being official comes with some costs, and members who help cover them are essential for the project to keep going. It also lets us improve what we offer at events.
